About the author of Into the Abyss

Carol Shaben was working as a journalist in the Middle East, when she read in a local newspaper that her father had survived the Wapiti 402 plane crash. Her writings have earned two National Magazine Awards—a Gold Medal for Investigative Reporting and a Silver Medal for Politics and Public Interest. Shaben was formerly an international trade consultant and CBC writer/broadcaster.
