Don’t be fooled—the stereotypical image of the Viking is far from reality. Before you admire them or appropriate their culture, remember that the civilization of the Scandinavians from the 8th to 11th centuries was complex, complete with unique spiritual beliefs, violent raids, and the terrible practice of slavery.
